Overview
Longmenshan National Geopark covers an area of 1, 900 sq.km and boasts diversified land forms characterized with well-developed strata, glacial erratic boulders (nappe) and thrust fault terrains (klippe), which are highly valued by geologists in the world as ranking along those of the Alps.
The mention of Longmenshan (Dragon Gate Mountains) can be traced back to the earliest historical records in China and the legendary figure Da Yu, the leader in fighting floods in remote ancient times, is said to be a native of the Longmenshan area.
Natural Resources
There are rare plants such as Davidia involucrata, Ginkgo biloba and Lianxiang tree in the Longmen Mountain National Geopark in Sichuan; The Rare protected animals include national treasures giant pandas and red pandas, golden monkeys, wildebeests, etc.
What to see
Yinchang Valley
It is located in the Longmen Mountain National Geological Park in Sichuan, where there are numerous Feilai peaks, ancient glacier relics, and geological relics of typical stratigraphic sections. It is famous for hanging bridge planks, canyons, and waterfalls and rainbows.
Jiufeng Mountain
Jiufeng Mountain is located in the Longmen Mountain National Geological Park in Sichuan, 3315 meters above sea level. The name of Jiufeng is derived from the nine peaks.
